2010 Annual Awards Luncheon

31st ANNUAL AWARDS CELEBRATION

The 2010 Annual Awards Luncheon of the Colorado Lawyers Committee was held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Marriott Denver City Center, 1701 California Street, Denver, Colorado. The event honored individuals and law firms who contributed significantly to the accomplishments of the Lawyers Committee during 2009.

Harry N. MacLean, nationally known lawyer and author was the keynote speaker at the luncheon.  Mr. MacLean’s most recent book is The Past Is Never Dead, the Trial Of James Ford Seale and Mississippi’s Struggle for Redemption.

One of the highlights of the luncheon was the presentation of a number of awards to honor the individuals and organizations who contributed significantly to the Colorado Lawyers Committee during 2009. John F. Walsh  (Hill & Robbins, P.C.) received the Outstanding Sustained Contribution Award for his longstanding support and his extensive contributions to the work of the Colorado Lawyers Committee.
Four law firms were honored at the May 4th Luncheon.  The following firms were nominated for Law Firm of the Year:
  • Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP
  • Morrison & Foerster LLP
  • Reilly Pozner LLP
  • Snell & Wilmer L.L.P.
The law firm of Morrison & Foerster LLP was selected by the Board of Directors of the Colorado Lawyers Committee as the 2009 Law Firm of the Year.

The Lawyers Committee also honored the nominees for Task Force of the Year.  Four Task Forces were nominated for this award:
  • Homeless ID Task Force (Steering Committee):  James W. Hubbell (Kelly Garnsey Hubbell + Lass LLC), Diego G. Hunt (Holland & Hart LLP), James Kilroy (Snell & Wilmer L.L.P.), Timothy R. The Homeless ID Task Force Steering Committee was selected by the Board of Directors of the Colorado Lawyers Committee as the 2009 Task Force of the Year.

The Colorado Lawyers Committee also presented a Community Contribution Award to Kathleen J. Gebhardt (Kathleen J. Gebhardt, L.L.C.) and Alexander Halpern (Alexander Halpern LLC) and all the other individuals and organizations who volunteered their time on the recent education finance case, Lobato v. State.
