2017 Awards Luncheon

The Colorado Lawyers Committee 2017 Awards Luncheon will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Marriott Denver City Center from 11:30am to 1:30pm.  Online sales of tickets and sponsorships are available here.

We are delighted to announce that this year’s keynote speaker will be Ken Armstrong, a Pulitzer-Prize winning investigative reporter whose work has appeared in The Washington Post, The Paris Review, Mother Jones, and This American Life. Mr. Armstrong’s topic will be “The Trials of Dick Cunningham: An Extraordinary Lawyer’s Life and Death.”  (Dick Cunningham was a criminal defense attorney who helped free innocent men on Illinois’ Death Row and was instrumental in the state’s moratorium on executions.)  Mr. Armstrong currently works for The Marshall Project, writing about criminal justice. His first book, “Scoreboard, Baby,” written with Nick Perry, won the Edgar Allan Poe Award for non-fiction. A graduate of Purdue University, Mr. Armstrong has been a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University and the McGraw Professor of Writing at Princeton University. Recently, he received the John Chancellor Award from Columbia University for lifetime achievement.

Another highlight of the luncheon will be the presentation of awards to honor individuals and organizations who have contributed significantly to the Colorado Lawyers Committee in the past year.  The following individuals and organizations will be honored at the luncheon:
